Hero: Paul Walker

Hero’s Essay

Why are heroes important today in society where everything is chaos? Heroes are important because they are a distinguished and admired by their work and qualities. It has also been said that heroes performed a heroic act and are considered as a model or ideal. Paul Walker was a compassionate person and famous actor but he was also known for his love for speed in cars. A man who helped creates the popular series “The Fast n’ the Furious”.

Paul William Walker IV was born on September 12th of the year 1973 in Glendale, California. His father Paul William Walker III a sewer contractor and also a fighter of two-time Golden Gloves champion. His mother Cheryl was a fashion model. Paul Walker was the oldest of five children. He was not only a typical guy but he was an American actor, model, and philanthropist.

Paul mother began to take him to auditions as a toddler by the age of two he was a model. As a toddler he starred in television commercials for the famous brand Pampers. At the age of two he began his modeling and doing television shows. In the year 1986, at the age 13 he made his big screen debut in the movie “Monster in the Closet”. Paul Walker graduated from Sun Valley’s Christian School in 1991. After high school Walker attended several Community colleges, majoring in Marine Biology.

After the big debut movie he was in 1986, he drifted away from acting for a while. Then he was track down by a casting director which he gave him a role in the series “Touched by an Angel”. Also in “The Young and the Restless”. That’s when Paul Walker returned to films in 1998. The director Moritz then cast Walker in the movie “The Fast and the Furious” alongside Vin Diesel. The film became an unexpected hit. He came out in “2 Fast 2 Furious” which he did not starred with Vin Diesel. Walker was not in the third installment, but the pair were reunited for the fourth film that came out in (2009). Which also became a big hit so the producers stuck with the formula Fast 5 (2011) and Fast and Furious 6 in (2013). The most recent has made $800 million worldwide so far.

In addition, not only was Walker all about himself but he cared and worried for others. Paul founded his own charity named “Reach out Worldwide (ROWW). This organization was very popular providing relief efforts for areas affected by natural disasters. His foundation helped in areas such as the tornadoes in Illinois, typhoon in the Philippines, the tornadoes in Oklahoma City and Alabama, Tsunami in Indonesia, as well as the earthquakes that took place in Chile and Haiti. In March of 2010, Paul personally went to Constitution, Chile to offer his help and support to the people injured in the 8.8 magnitude earthquake. Not only did Walker care after individuals all over the world, but he also cared after his daughter who he was separated from for 13 years due to her living with the mother in Hawaii.

Furthermore, Walker is a generous man who always had a goal set for him. He once said, “I just wanted to believe that if I was faced with a similar situation, I would see it through the same way. You want to believe you have the make-up to do what it would take to keep this baby going.” Walker said this quote in a forthcoming Hurricane Katrina drama which he described this as “a passion project”.

What does this tell us? It tells us that Paul Walker is a dedicated man to everything that he does. Unfortunately as much as many people loved him; he suddenly passed away on November 30, 2013. Roger Rodas and Walker who had a passion for cars crash into a tree in Santa Clarita Valley in California which the car engulfed in flames. They were in the area to attend a charity event to benefit victims from the typhoon in the Philippines.

Overall, even though Paul Walker recently died. I as well as many other people pay respects to the man while his time on earth. Walker proved himself to be an awesome actor and also a hero for the charity he did.

  1. Good lead that is generalized about heroes yet attracts the reader’s attention! Your thesis, however, is located in the wrong spot. It must be the last sentence in the introductory paragraph. Looks like your thesis is second to last. You have the personality variables, good for you! However, love for sports cars is not this hero’s most meaningful societal contribution. Please critically think about his overall contribution then reformulate and relocated your thesis! Thanks for your initial draft!
